Pension funds sell Alpinvest to Carlyle, management

Dutch private equity group Alpinvest is to be sold to a joint venture between its management and private equity giant Carlyle.

Financial details were not disclosed. Alpinvest, which invests for the country’s two biggest pension funds, has over €32bn under management.
Civil service pension fund ABP and health care fund PGGM said in a statement they would continue to put funds into Alpinvest.
According to news agency Reuters the deal will ‘catapult Carlyle Group to rank as the world’s largest private equity firm by assets under management, ahead of Blackstone, and provide a springboard for Alpinvest to expand internationally.’
