Pension agreement expected soon: minister

Social affairs minister Henk Kamp is optimistic about reaching a speedy agreement with unions and employers’ organisations on the future of pensions, he told the press during a visit to Brussels on Monday.

Negotiations are still continuing between employers and unions on an agreement that will pave the way for an increase in the state pension age from 65 to 66. They are trying to find ways of making pensions more stable in volatile financial markets and to link pension increases to life expectancy.
Kamp wants wage moderation and increasing employment levels among older workers as part of that agreement.
The FNV trade union told the Telegraaf it does not expect agreement to be reached this week.
