NS to get sole responsibility for passenger information

Friday 28 January 2011

Dutch Rail (NS) is to take over sole responsibility for passenger information, transport minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen has announced.

At the moment, responsibility is split between the NS and railway operator ProRail, both 100% state-owned companies

The minister hopes putting the NS in sole charge will mean information will be made available more quickly at times of major delays, such as during heavy snow.

She is also planning to make the bonuses paid to NS executives more dependent on performance.
