Minister gives dying boy right to stay
Sunday 16 January 2011
Immigration minister Gerd Leers has agreed not to deport an eight-year-old boy who is dying of a brain tumor and due to be sent back to Sri Lanka, news agency ANP reports.
The boy, Abiram Parameswaran, and his mother fled to the Netherlands seven years ago.
Leers' spokesman said on Sunday night the boy and his mother would not be deported and that his grandmother would be given a visa to see the boy a final time.
