High Court orders rethink on ACAB

The High Court has ordered the retrial of a man who was given a fine of €200 for wearing a jacket featuring the letters ACAB because it was insulting to the police.

The letters are said to stand for All Cops Are Bastards.
The court said it questioned whether the abbreviation is widely known, and said the lower court had not researched that issue properly.
Last week, three men were fined for wearing t-shirts featuring the numbers 1312, which are also said to represent ACAB.
