Hamster artist found not guilty of animal cruelty

A conceptual artist known as Tinkebell has been found not guilty of animal cruelty for an exhibit featuring 95 hamsters in exercise balls.

Tinkebell, the pseudenom of Katinka Simonse, was also accused of placing the hamsters in small and dirty cages without adequate food or water.
The installation was part of a project called Save the Pets in 2008. Exercise balls are supposed to be used for a maximum 30 minutes.
The court ruled that the prosecution had not proved the hamsters had suffered.
