Hamster abusing artist appears in court

An artist accused of animal cruelty for placing 95 hamsters in plastic exercise balls for four hours as part of an installation will appear in court in Amsterdam on Friday, the Telegraaf reports.

Tinkebell, the pseudenom of Katinka Simonse, is also accused of placing the hamsters in small and dirty cages without adequate food or water.
The installation was part of a project called Save the Pets in 2008. Exercise balls are supposed to be used for a maximum 30 minutes.
