Almost everyone is worse off this year, childcare users hardest hit

With the first salary slips of the year arriving in the post around now, almost everyone will have less to spend in 2011, according to the family finance institute Nibud.

It is the second year in a row that spending power has gone down, according to Nibud calculations.
While net salaries will be higher for almost everyone, inflation will eat away the difference, Nibud says. And higher healthcare costs will also add to the final bill.
Childcare
Families using childcare facilities will be hard hit. For example, a couple with children who are in daycare and earn a combined €60,000 before tax will be €80 a month worse off, Nibud says.
A couple with similar earnings and no childcare will have €15 a month less disposable income.
Many pensioners will have less income because pensions have either been frozen or, in some cases, reduced. A retired couple with a small private pension will have €14 a month less to spend.
