Polar bear eats its young

The polar bear born two weeks ago at the Neunen zoo has been eaten by its mother, according to local newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad.

Zookeepers had become anxious about the baby when it disappeared from tv monitors installed in the bear’s den.
The mother, Beja, is 24 years old and that is considered old for a polar bear, the paper said.
