Foreign minister’s vision is simplistic, says Pechtold

Foreign minister Uri Rosenthal has a ‘simplistic, limited and reprehensible’ vision of foreign policy, Alexander Pechtold, leader of the Liberal democratic party D66, says in an interview with the Volkskrant.

In particular, Rosenthal has a ‘very limited vision of the Middle East’ by saying Israel has been made the fall guy, Pechtold says.
This is the hand of [PVV leader Geert] Wilders, Pechtold said. ‘As far as Wilders is concerned, only the Netherlands and Israel exist.’
Parliament is due to debate the foreign ministry’s 2011 spending plans next week.
