Fog and black ice cause problems on the roads and at airports

Heavy fog and ice are causing many problems on the roads for early commuters on Tuesday, the ABWB motoring organisation reports.

Schiphol airport is also warning travellers to expect delays and possible cancellations because of the fog.
The A7 motorway between Zaandam and the Afsluitdijk was closed in both directions on Tuesday morning following a number of accidents caused by icy conditions.
The A5 from Haarlem to Hoofddorp was also closed in part. And there are warnings of very slippery conditions on the A4 between The Hague and Delft.

Amsterdam

And the speed limit on the A10 ring road around Amsterdam was reduced to 50 kph on Tuesday morning because of the heavy fog and ice.
Only the south east of the country has escaped the fog, the ANWB said.
The mist will clear slightly towards evening, the KNMI weather bureau says. However, there may be light snow showers in some places overnight.
