Firms draw up social networking rules

Big Dutch companies are drawing up guidelines for staff who use the microblogging website Twitter, the Volkskrant reports on Friday.

‘It is very simple,’ ING spokesman Harold Reusken told the paper. ‘When you work for ING you sign a confidentiality agreement. You have to remember that at birthday parties and while making phone calls on the train and also when using social media.’
ING also has a webcare team to represent the company on the internet. ‘We do not want ordinary staff to make statements about the company,’ he said.
