Farm minister will not attend climate summit

Junior farm minister Henk Bleker will not be attending the two-week UN climate summit in Mexico, which starts this week, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

Bleker is too busy with the EU farm and fisheries council meeting in Brussels, his spokesman told the paper.
Bleker has now asked the department’s most senior civil servant Hans Hoogeveen to present the findings of last month’s climate conference in The Hague instead.
Junior environment minister Joop Atsma will attend the last few days of the summit, the paper says.
