Black ice causes chaos in Flevoland, two killed as lorry leaves road

Black ice led to treacherous conditions on many roads on Monday morning, with the A6 in Flevoland particularly badly affected.

Police told Nos tv there have beeen dozens of accidents on the A6 and other roads in the province.
The A6 was closed for a time, forcing traffic to find alternative routes and adding to the congestion on other roads. Police recommend commuters use the train.
Lorry
Near Monnickendam in Noord-Holland a lorry carrying 25 tonnes of prawns left the road and ended up in the water after skidding. The driver and another person are missing, presumed drowned, Nos tv said.
Drivers in other areas are having to deal with mist and fog.
With the ground still frozen after last week’s heavy frost and night frosts expected the rest of the week, the KNMI weather bureau says rush hour traffic is likely to be difficult all week.
