Aid minister to investigate SNV following irregularity claims

Junior aid minister Ben Knapen is launching an investigation into claims of irregularities at development aid organisation SNV, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

The move follows a leaked tax inspectors’ memo in the Volkskrant which details a number of potential problems at the organisation.
For example, the memo said one director was given extra money to help pay rent and the director of the SNV office in Washington was given ‘substantial’ other benefits including help with paying for his son’s music lessons and summer camp.
MPs have already demanded a complete explanation of goings on at SHV, which has come under fire for paying directors well above the limit for public sector pay.
