2010 was a good year for Dutch film

The Dutch film industry issued 10 films which went gold, two which went platinum and one which went diamond in 2010, the Dutch film festival organisation said at the weekend.


The biggest box office draw, with over a million visitors, was Komt een vrouw bij de dokter (a woman goes to the doctor) about a man who is unfaithful to his cancer-stricken wife.
The two platinum films with over 400,000 visitors were children´s adventure movie Anubis en de wraak van Arghus (Anubis and Arghus´ revenge) and De Gelukkige Huisvrouw (the happy housewife).
Brand new release New Kids Turbo – a comedy about a group of five no-hopers in a Brabant village – broke box office records on its first day. It took in €249,500, compared with €243,500 for previous box office champion Komt een vrouw.
Six of the 20 most popular films in the Netherlands this year are Dutch, the film festival said.
