The Hague mayor to ‘look hard’ at licencing dance parties

The Hague’s mayor is to ‘look hard’ at whether or not to continue granting licences to large dance parties, news agency ANP reports on Monday.

At the weekend, riot police had to be called in to break up a fight at a dance event in the city. Four people were injured and 16 people arrested.
Mayor Jozias van Aartsen is said to be ‘furious with people who behave in this way, spoiling the party and putting police and security guards at risk’, ANP said.
In Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb tightened up the regulations for large parties following a riot at the Sunset Groves festival in 2009. One man was shot dead by police and six others injured when police came under attack.
