High income families should pay higher healthcare premiums than low income ones, according to the head of one of the country’s biggest health insurance groups in Wednesday’s Telegraaf.

‘Low income people are hit harder by rising health costs. People who earn €10,000 a month only pay €70 more in health costs than those on €2,300, Roger van Boxtel, of health group Menzis, said.
Employees pay a wage-related healthcare contribution over earnings up to €33,189.
In line with most other health insurers, Menzis is increasing its annual premium by around 10% to €1,257 a year.
