‘Public sector broadcasters face internet chop’
Public sector broadcasters face losing their internet operations as part of the new government’s plans to overhaul the broadcasting system and cut spending, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.
The coalition agreement states that the public radio and tv broadcasters should limit their operations to audiovisual productions.
Liberal MP Anouchka van Miltenburg told the paper public broadcasters compete unfairly with the private sector because they are propped up by the taxpayer. ‘New media should be developed by the private sector as much as possible,’ she said.
