'Mobile internet is bad for trees'

Friday 19 November 2010

Electromagnetic radiation from mobile phone masts and wifi internet is having a negative effect on trees, according to various newspapers, quoting research by Wageningen University.

The reports say researchers subjected 20 ash trees to emissions from six wifi access points over a three-month period and found that the leaves closest to the source withered and fell off. Sweet corn subjected to the same emissions failed to grow properly.

The research was reportedly set up after officials from Alphen aan den Rijn council noticed strange markings and growth patterns on trees in the town, which were not due to a virus or bacterium.

Further research showed that the symptoms, which include strange growths, are prevalent all over the western world. Some 70% of trees in Dutch urban areas have the symptoms, compared with just 10% five years ago when Alphen officials noticed them, the papers said.

Doubts

The TNO institute, linked in some reports to the research, said in a statement it specifically distanced itself from the project.

A TNO researcher was involved in several discussions during the project but the organisation 'emphatically distances itself from the conclusions about the relationship between wifi and plant growth', the statement said.

There are no details about the research on the Wageningen University website.

Mobile internet is not just Wi-Fi.

It covers a wide range of technologies and Wi-Fi is the most power consuming one.

Try Wimax but as usual Europeans sing their own song and opting for LTE.

Hmmm...maybe all those people in the US have been right, that living under or around powerlines is bad for people, animals, vegetation, etc. They should bury them like they do here. But what can be done about the electromagnetic radiation problems in the air? I don't use my cell phone much, but I know a lot of people who would be lost without it (I only use mine when I AM lost!).

So what is it doing to us humans?

And what about people? Let guess how our DNA, our brain, all our cells will be in a near future or are already...

It is just as well they don’t have these masts on the top of residential buildings.

Oh, but they do.

It is just as well Children don’t need to grow.

Mobile phone towers should be required to be beautiful, for example colourful towers with a lookout at the top, like in Shanghai.
Enough of these ugly grey concrete towers with a negative impact on the environment.
Let them pay their way, make them a fine art work, with a revolving restaurant, lookout and colourful addition to the surroundings.

This is not a surprise
There is other research on trees already done as well as plants insects and humans. They are all being damaged.

Hi,
'Mobile Internet is bad for trees' This interesting report
has wider implication. The effect on humans (electrosmog).
In addition the mobile phone itself is under suspicion for
example causing the Meningiomas that are the second most
common primary neoplasm of the central nervous system.
Strangely enough many mobile phone masts are in churches.
With the mobile phone itself the aco is suspect.
