Marriage contract changes unlikely

The cabinet is not keen on modernising the standard marriage contract by removing standard communal property clauses, junior justice minister Fred Teeven said on Thursday.


Teeven agreed to look into the proposals, which have majority support in parliament.
However, he said he could see many objections to the plan and that it would increase costs for people who still wanted to marry under joint property agreements.
