A 28-year- old man from Zoetermeer has been jailed for 30 months, six suspended, for abusing an 11-year-old girl he met via teenage social networking site Habbo Hotel.

The man, known in court as A L, operated under several names on the site and pretended to be younger in order to win his victim’s trust, a process known as grooming.
The girl’s mother discovered the abuse after finding a message from the man on her mobile phone. He also tried to groom a nine-year-old girl, the court in Middelburg was told.
