Energy firm fined €1m for misleading telephone sales

The consumer watchdog Consumentenautoriteit has fined energy group Nederlandse Energie Maatschappij over €1m for using misleading telephone sales methods between 2008 and 2009.

‘The company put people under pressure and they were approached in a very aggressive way,’ the authority is quoted as saying in the NRC.
NEM is appealing against the decision, saying the fine is unfairly high and that it stopped making telephone sales voluntarily.
