CDA calls for tighter rules for former ministers’ new jobs

CDA MP Ger Koopmans is to ask home affairs minister Piet Hein Donner to tighten up the rules governing what former ministers can and can’t do with confidential information when they move to a new employer.

Former finance minister Wouter Bos has taken up a new job with accountants group KPMG where he is responsible for the public sector and healthcare advisory practices and an advisor in the financial sector practice.
Bos said in an interview with the Volkskrant earlier this month he did not feel he needed to be screened but that he and the ministry had ‘carefully checked’ what information he could not use.
Koopmans says this is ‘too vague’ and that there needs to be clear rules to govern former ministers’ integrity.
