Barcelona has begun negotiations with PSV to buy midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, news agency ANP reported at the weekend.

Afellay said earlier he did not plan to renew his contract with the Eindhoven club, which ends this season.
If the club, currently top of the premier division, wants to make sure he does not get a free transfer, it must sell him during the winter break, ANP says.
If the deal goes though, Afellay will be the 18th Dutchman to sign for the Spanish club, following in the footsteps of Johan Cruijff, Patrick Kluivert and Marc Overmars.
