Ahold supermarket sales rise 11% in Q3

Supermarket group Ahold booked net profit down 9% at €223m in the third quarter of this year.


The €21m decline includes €16m in charges for past divestments, the company said in a statement.
But sales rose 11% year on year to €6.7bn, in line with analysts´ expectations.
‘In an environment that remains challenging, we delivered another quarter of solid results,’ said CEO John Rishton.
‘Sales were up 10.8%, we delivered positive identical sales growth in the United States and in Europe, operating income increased by 7.5% and we grew volumes and market share in the United States and the Netherlands.’
