UN envoy Ad Melkert unhurt in roadside bomb blast

A convoy carrying Ad Melkert, the UN’s top envoy to Iraq, was hit by a roadside bomb as it left the holy city of Najaf on Tuesday evening.


Melkert, a former leader of the Dutch Labour party, was unhurt, the UN said. According to some reports, one policeman died and three others were injured.
