Some 11% of children grow up in poverty

Some 382,000 Dutch children are growing up in households with an income of less than 120% of the minimum wage, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS.

The gross minimum wage is currently €1,416 a month. Some 11% of Dutch children live below the CBS poverty line.
Between 2003 and 2008, the number of children living in poverty fell by some 20,000 a year, but there has been little change between 2009 and 2010, the CBS said.
