School bans headscarves too close to eyebrows

A secondary school in Utrecht has told girls who wear Islamic headscarves that they must make sure at least 90% of their face is visible, news agency ANP reports on Thursday.

The new rules were introduced in June.
‘Teachers will not talk to girls whose headscarves are not at least two centimetres above their eyebrows,’ local Labour councillor Gadiza Bouazani said. She has asked the city executive responsible for education to explain the rules.
