KLM angry at Schiphol transit passenger plan

Schiphol airport’s plans to increase charges for transit passengers and to encourage more budget airlines like Easyjet to base there risk damaging the airport’s entire network, KLM director Peter Hartman says in Saturday’s Telegraaf.

‘Transfer traffic is the motor behind the KLM network and that means it drives the airport itself,’Hartman told the paper. Whoever does not realise that is shooting themselves in the foot, the KLM director said.
Airline sector group IATA has already written to Schiphol to protest at the plans, the Telegraaf said.
KLM accounts for some 50% of flight movements at Schiphol.
