Green groups disappointed in the deal, ‘environment unimportant’

Green organisations have dismissed the new cabinet agreement as being anti-environment for its support for nuclear power and increase in road building.

The three party leaders ‘are opening the door to polluting coal and nuclear power stations, and lowering environmental targets,’ Greenpeace said in a statement.
Friends of the Earth (Milieudefensie) said the agreement is back to the ‘old economy’ which ‘led to the financial crisis and the climate crisis in the first place’.
Alexander Pechtold, leader of the D66 Liberals, told a tv talk show on Thursday night that the part of the agreement covering the deals made with the PVV contains seven pages on combating immigration and just 17 lines on the environment.
