European Liberals worried about VVD PVV alliance

Prime minister and Liberal party leader Mark Rutte has admitted his party is facing difficulties within the Liberal grouping in the European parliament over its alliance with the anti-Islam PVV.

‘We have to talk about the problems but we can overcome them,’ Rutte was quoted as saying by news agency ANP.
Last week, Guy Verhofstadt, who chairs the parliament’s Liberal grouping, said he is concerned at the support some member parties are being given by far right groups.
Both the VVD and D66 are members of the European Liberal alliance.
Rutte is in Brussels for his first European summit as prime minister.
