Dutch World Cup bid: more controversy

The Dutch-Belgian bid to stage the 2018 or 2022 football World Cup is in the spotlight again after claims in the British Sunday newspaper that some senior officials at the Fifa world football body are willing to take bribes in return for their support.

England, Russia and a combination of Spain and Portugal are also competing to stage the 2018 event.
Reporters from The Sunday Times posed as lobbyists for a consortium of American companies who wanted to bring the tournament to the United States.
The paper recorded Amos Adamu of Nigeria and Oceania Football Confederation president Reynald Temarii of Tahiti appearing to asking for money to fund projects in return for their support.
The US actually pulled out of the race on Friday.
