Dutch physicist wins Nobel Prize

Dutchman Andre Geim and his Russian-British colleague Konstantin Novoselov have been awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics it was announced on Tuesday.


Geim and Novoselov are the discoverers of graphene, the thinnest but strongest material in the world. Highly conductive and practically transparent, graphene is an excellent basis for efficient electronics.
The 52-year-old Geim, who was born in Russia, lives in England where he teaches at Manchester university. He is also physics professor at the Radboud university Nijmegen and an honorary doctor at TU Delft.
