Airport transit passenger fees under investigation

Outgoing transport minister Camiel Eurlings has ordered an investigation into the cost and benefits of transit passengers at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport.

The airport authority is planning to raise transit fees, which airline KLM says will hurt its international network. At the same time, Schiphol wants to encourage more budget airlines to use its facilities.
Some 50% of passengers using the airport are en route to another destination.
