Spending power under pressure

Dutch workers are starting to feel the pinch in their pockets because inflation is outstripping pay rises, the national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday.

Last year spending power rose an average 1.4% due largely to low inflation.
In 2009, pay rose by an average 3% but that fell to just 1% in the first six months of this year. And inflation reached 1.6% in July, its highest level since May 2009, the CBS said.
