Rail operator banned from raising executive pay

State owned rail operator ProRail has been banned by the transport minister from increasing the pay for senior executives above the €188,000 earned by the prime minister.

ProRail’s supervisory board had recommended an increase for all members of the management board, but Camiel Eurlings rejected the plan.
Not only is ProRail simply doing its job as required by law but it is financed by public money and has very little competition, Nos tv quoted Eurlings as saying.
The prime minister’s basic salary is considered the benchmark for public sector pay.
