Princess Amalia gets €1 a week pocket money

Princess Amalia, 6, gets €1 a week pocket money and prefers to save it up rather than spend it, her mother princess Maxima told a school tv show.

Maxima said she thinks it is important that children come into contact with money at at a young age. Amalia, who is third in line to the throne, can also earn extra money by doing odd jobs, Maxima said.
According to the Dutch family spending institute Nibud, children should be given pocket money from around the age of six, when they can recognise different coins. Some 70% of eight and nine-year-olds get pocket money.
