Police officers cause crashes

Friday 24 September 2010

Police cars were involved in 19,363 accidents last year, injuring 87 people and killing one, the AD reports on Friday.

Most accidents happen because police cars drive into poles or other objects, the paper said. But because police are responsible for ‘many’ crashes involving other cars or property, the cost of repairs and compensation runs into millions of euros.

From this month, police officers are being given extra training in driving skills.
