Online retail sales rise 10%

The Netherlands’online retailers booked combined turnover of €3.85bn in the first six months of this year, up 10% on a year ago.
Online retail umbrella group Thuiswinkel.nl expects full year turnover to reach €8bn.
Sales rose 19% in the first half of 2009.
This year the number of items purchased has gone up, while the average price has gone down. In 2009, shoppers spent an average €145 per order. This year the figure is €120.
Travel accounts for the bulk of online shopping (44%), followed by telephony and clothes.
