New cabinet to spend millions on new roads

The new government has agreed to spend hundreds of millions of euros a year building new roads, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

The paper says the draft coalition agreement includes a commitment to increase the current road budget from €3bn a year to €3.5bn in an effort to cut traffic congestion.
In addition, the new government plans to cut spending on the public broadcasters, integration programmes for new immigrants, defence and development aid. It will also lift the ban on smoking in small cafes, the paper says.
The paper does not say if it has seen a copy of the agreement, which has been kept tightly under wraps and will be handed over to MPs from the three parties for their views on Wednesday.
