Man arrested for throwing object at queen
Tuesday 21 September 2010
Police in The Hague arrested a man who threw a heavy glass candle holder at the golden coach carrying queen Beatrix to parliament to make her traditional speech from the throne on Tuesday.
There was little damage to the coach and the journey continued without further incident, news agency ANP said.
Nevertheless, the item was heavy and police are taking the incident very seriously, Nos tv reported.
Thousands of people lined the route in the autumn sunshine to watch the queen, who was accompanied by crown prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima.
Another person was arrested for public drunkenness, police said.

Violence should never be used as a manifestation of dissent, because it is immoral. In any case, there is no need for it because the media and the internet offer splendid opportunities for the free expression of one's thoughts.
