Louis van Gaal extends Bayern Munich contract

Dutch football coach Louis van Gaal has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich which binds him to the German club until summer 2012.

'I am very happy that I can stay and work with Bayern for longer,' Van Gaal told reporters. Despite a poor start to the current season, Bayern was known to be keen to keep the Dutchman.

Van Gaal moved to Bayern in 2009 after taking AZ of Alkmaar to the Dutch league title.
