House prices continue 18-month decline

Tuesday 21 September 2010

House prices fell 0.4% in August, continuing an 18 month decline, the national statistics office CBS said on Tuesday.

Month on month the fall in the average price of a house was 2%, although detached homes were more expensive.

Some 10,000 apartments and houses changed hands in August, up 9% on August 2009. Again, detached houses were most in demand.

The CBS did not give a breakdown of actual house prices.

Thoughm there is an absolute decline for demand for real estate because of the macro balance is in real trouble all arond the Globe, there should be more house construction in the Nation and the State subsidy is very weak in the Netherlands. Here in Rotterdam the house deficit annually is 37.000 which makes a huge price increase. 80 metersquare hapartment flat a new one 230.000 Euro!
