Right-wing coalition back on the table as Wilders says 'I'm in'

Tuesday 07 September 2010

Anti-Islam party leader Geert Wilders wants to resume talks on forming a right-wing coalition with the VVD Liberals and Christian Democrats, Nos tv reports on Tuesday.

Wilders pulled out of the talks after four weeks on Friday, saying he no longer had confidence in the CDA.

But now Ab Klink, the CDA's biggest critic of the right-wing alliance, has stepped down as an MP, Wilders says he would like to start talking again.

In an initial reaction, VVD leader Mark Rutte said he would be pleased to resume talks on a right-wing government.

And CDA leader Maxime Verhagen also wants to reopen the negotiations. My position is the same as it was on Friday, Verhagen said. 'The CDA wants to continue.'

Debate

MPs are due to debate the collapse of right-wing cabinet talks with the queen's negotiator Ivo Opschelten on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, queen Beatrix is currently consulting her advisors and party leaders about what should happen next in terms of forming a new government.

The Netherlands has been without effective government since the end of February when the cabinet collapsed over support for Afghanistan. The VVD emerged as the biggest party with 31 seats after the June general election. Labour has 30 and the PVV 24.

What is there to debate? Wilders is back, that is the only thing that matters now, we have PVV back.

Watch out Mark Rutte. Having helped destroy the CDA, Wilders will now turn his attention to destroying the VVD as well.

@Shirley. You are absolutely right, but it is even worse. Wilders is trying to destroy our way of life, Dutch values, coexistence and dialogue, which are the foundations of our culture and democracy. So he is currently the main menace for them. And Rutte, driven only by his personal ambitions, is playing the role of clumsy boy wizard.

These negotiations will last longer than the goverment (if it ever gets formed). That's how the PVV rolls.

It is more like CDA holding up talks with their drama queen attitude! Wilders was always willing to cooperate and showed nothing but professionalism thoughout this whole thing and what did he get in return?? he gets slapped in the face by sour politicians that can´t stand losing which all came from the CDA and their bad behavior!

Oh he of the blond bouffant is, but a false prophet of the far right! The shadow of a small dark mustache would complete the persona. All reasonable cloggie voters should cast him out into the Wilderness, before every radical Islamic decides to turn their wrath on The Netherlands.

"A week in Holland's political playground"

Wilders pouts and throws toys out of the pram, hoping someone will care.
Klink gets bored of having to placate the spoilt brat all the time and walks away.
Wilders shouts 'look at meeee' and wants to get out of the pram to play again now that the bad boy who wouldn't let him get all his own way has gone home.
Wilders tries to put his superman cloak on to impress voters with his.. uhm.. commitment?! ah well, so long as they're all watching him again, perhaps someone will want to play a good game of 'Relgious Discrimination' with him soon?

If not, he can always go back to his pram and start again.

Lets look at facts on the face.
Three months , no government.
It would be preferable to have new elections now and see where the people wants to go. Maybe Wilders will be defeated. That is the best way to cut the Gordion knot.

This gets better every day! Today members of the US government, where I am from, have called burning the koran and making enemies of Islam 'idiotic and dangerous'. NL on the other hand, votes the sower of hate and fear, Mr. anti-Islam himself Wilders into the Dutch government! Wow what a progressive forward thinking land NL is huh? This is hiliarious. In a couple of months there will have to be new elections, I think the PVV will be number one next time. Yes indeed Geert Wilders for PM of Holland - the racist stupid hate pride of NL!

I completely agree.

In fact I want Wilders to be elected and win the majority. I want to see him try and put in place what he has been spewing for the last few years...

what a farce. best solution is to vote xfactor style/pop idol style, each week we vote untill there is a winner. of course 2 people need to be eliminated every week.
