Heavy rain leads to record jams

Heavy rain led to traffic jams on the Dutch roads reaching 650 km on Tuesday morning – the highest total of the year so far.

It was particularly busy round Amsterdam and Utrecht and an accident on the A2 near Den Bosch caused 18 km of tailbacks.
The previous 2010 record was set on February 1 when heavy snow caused jams totalling 571 km.
