DSB founder Scheringa to sue central bank and its chairman

Dick Scheringa, the man who founded independent bank DSB which collapsed last year, is also planning to take legal action against the Dutch central bank, the Telegraaf reports on Saturday.

Scheringa plans to sue the bank and its chairman Nout Wellink for their role in the DSB collapse in October 2009. He claims that the central bank and Dutch retail banks conspired to bring down his banking group.

According to the Telegraaf, he plans to file the claim within three weeks.

Pact

'I have a 100 page file which shows there was pact at the end of 2008 to bring down me and my bank,' he said.

Scheringa's empire included the AZ football club, a speed skating team and a modern art museum as well as the bank.

DSB collapsed after a run by worried savers following a sea of reports about mis-selling and expensive life insurance policies

An official report into the collapse said the central bank should never have awarded Scheringa a banking licence in the first place.
