Colleges angry about sex worker advert

A number of Dutch colleges and universities are angry about a guide for new students which includes a page-sized advert urging them to sign up to become telephone and webcam sex workers.

The Student Information Guide 2010-2011 was produced by an independent company and handed out to thousands of students in different cities at the beginning of the new academic year.
The advert takes the form of a two page article advising students that traditional jobs such as cleaning and babysitting can be difficult with a hangover. Instead, students can earn up to €24 an hour working when and where it suits them, the advert says.
A spokesman for Mediadam, the company which produced the guide, said the advert had been a mistake and they had not stopped to think the guide could be distributed to minors.
