Amsterdam VVD leader opposes anti-Islam link-up
Thursday 09 September 2010
Eric van der Burg, leader of the right-wing Liberal VVD in Amsterdam, is against his party forming a new government with Geert Wilders' anti-Islam PVV, local tv station AT5 reports.
‘The PVV says things about large parts of the Netherlands and large parts of Amsterdam which I do not recognise. That is the main reason I say 'you should not want to work with the PVV.'
The national VVD, Christian Democrats and PVV are hoping to soon restart talks on forming a right-wing government.

Thank god! Finally some little bit of common sense and normal social viewpoints from the VVD, the Republicans of NL politics. A coalition with the PVV would never work in Amsterdam, just as it will ultimately fail for NL as a whole. It is remarkable that the Dutch majority continues to vote these right wing parties into power that have no chance of succeeding in our new globalization situation. See the LPF, the VVD with Rita Verdonk as immigration minister and TON, all as examples - all failed miserably and at a huge cost to NL's world reputation and to us as taxpayers.
