‘Roof killer’ picked up after escaping while on prison leave

A youth who escaped from his escort while on leave from a youth prison in Zutphen has been picked up from a house in The Hague, police said on Friday.

Danny T made off last week while outside the prison walls. It is the second time within six months that he has escaped and been picked up.
T was 16 when found guilty of stabbing 25-year-old Pascal Triep in 2007. The killing became known as the ‘roof murder’ because it took place on the roof of a low garden extension, was captured on video.
T was sentenced to one year in a youth detention centre to be followed by treatment in a psychiatric prison. The youth’s lawyer told news agency ANP his client was frustrated because he has been waiting in jail for two years to be given psychiatric help.
